Emma is finishing up her last few pages of her 3rd grade math and English. English had a nice transition into the end of the book. Things gently tapered off with some fun projects. Math, however, threw me for a loop. I was expecting lots of review, easy stuff, maybe a few fun projects. NO! What I got was long division, adding fractions, simplifying problems using multiplication/division first and parentheses rules, adding and subtracting negative numbers, and creating and plotting items on a coordinate plane. I was not prepared for this. (I suppose I would be if I looked ahead and did things like “school planning”, but I’m not worried that I’ll have to study up on my third grade math and prepare for it, so I usually just go with the flow). So, the past few weeks have had just a few school challenges that sort of compounded and multiplied with the new job, death of Bryan’s grampa, and birthday palooza that January and February brings. I’m definitely looking forward to starting the 4th grade book next week which interestingly enough starts with addition 🙂 Phew!
